Buba London

Every once in a while, I discover a designer that makes such inspired pieces that I can’t help but fall in love. Many months ago, I came across Buba London’s collection of handbags, and I thought to myself, where you have been all my life? All of their pieces have an exotic glamor which I adore. Each piece is unique and really a work of art.  I am wearing their Calypso satchel, which has tiny beads and rhinestones hand-sewn into a geometric patchwork pattern. The strap can be removed if you want to wear it as a clutch. It is such a statement piece! What do you think of it?

Fashion Houston

I am so thrilled to finally be able to share some exciting news with you all. For the past few months I have been working with the insanely talented Cody Bess on a fashion book just for Houston. Cody is a fashion photographer, and he came up with the idea to document Houston fashion week and some of the amazing talent in Houston with his beautiful photography. I am so happy to be working with him on this project, and I wanted to show you all a preview of some of the shoots.

This shoot was a special project we did for Tootsie’s. I am wearing a kaftan designed by Camilla.

These are a few backstage and runway photos taken by Cody from Fashion Week 2011.

This is a shoot we did of David Peck at his studio. It was so cool to see his pieces being made, and all the work that goes into it.

Here is a shoot we did of Fady, Tootsie’s fashion director. He has the most amazing collection of clothing, shoes, and bags, but what was especially unique was his collection of pins. I love the lady bug on the flower! Can you find it on the tray?

I would love to hear what you all think. And if you love fashion and photography, check out more of Cody’s work here.

I can’t wait to share the book with all of you once it is complete! And if you live in Houston, I will see you at Fashion week in November.

You can follow me and stay updated on different shoots we do on my Facebook page here.

**All photos are the property of Cody Bess. If you would like to use any of these photos, please contact myself or Cody Bess. Thank you.

Coral and Stripes

I have been on a coral kick lately, but I can’t help it! It’s such a great color for summer, and it just makes any outfit a little more lively. I wanted to play around with pattern, so I paired my coral pencil skirt with a navy and white striped tank.  I brought it all together with my coral and pink “bubble necklace” and white T-strap heels. This is an outfit you can wear to brunch, a day-time party, or just to go eat cupcakes like I did.  What do you think of the coral and stripe combo? And if you are a coral-lover, don’t forget to enter my coral necklace giveaway here.

Time for a red velvet cupcake! The red G on the top stands for “gluten free”. Thank goodness Sprinkles started making those!

Dress for Dinner w/ Ken Downing

This week, I was so happy to attend the Dress for Dinner fashion show at Neiman Marcus benefiting Recipe for Success, with special guest Ken Downing. You may know him as the fashion director for Neiman Marcus, but one thing I learned about him that night was that he is also full of wit! He took us through the upcoming trends for fall with perfectly styled looks both for daytime and evening. Fall is actually my favorite fashion season, because I love to dress in layers, and I love the rich, dark colors of fall. Here are some of my favorite looks of the night, which showcased some of the trends to look for in Fall 2012.

Floral pants are not going anywhere (thank goodness!), and pops of bright orange were a common theme of the night.

The coordinating dress and jacket are big for Fall, as are what Ken called “digital prints”. I love of all the colors in this look, and there goes that orange again ( I am not complaining).

Tweed jackets, digital prints, and another pop of orange in the heels.

Menswear inspired looks are a big trend for Fall. Also, the leather pant is used as a legging. I love the orange bag!

This look was a definite show-stopper. Here again, the tweed jacket is used in place of a shawl or wrap for an evening look. Another trend I am excited about is layering lots of necklaces. Pearls, turquoise, and agate are all on trend for Fall.

This was a Resort look, with a beautiful printed maxi skirt and lots of orange. I also love the exaggerated collar on the sweater.

I was in love with this whole look, but I couldn’t take my eyes off of this navy and orange Celine bag. To die for! Navy is the new neutral, and Ken says not to be afraid to pair navy with black.

Another show-stopper. The mirrored print is here to stay. Remember my mirror print dress from this post?

Gorgeous Herve Leger dress with the pale green details, and green Bottega Veneta bag. Green is another big color for fall….all shades of green, alone or in combination.

I had to include this shot because of the Valentino bag in the zebra print. “High impact” bags are hot for Fall, and this one definitely fits that category.

What do you think? Which of these looks is your favorite? Mine would have to be the floral pants with the orange blazer. The pants are by Theory and you can get them here.

Have a great weekend!

Pastels, Lace, and Studs

You know when you are shopping, and you find that one item that you know you just have to have, and you pray they have your size? That’s how I felt when I saw this linen blazer in mint green at Zara. I love that it combines the feminine mint color with the edgy moto-style shape and studs on the collar. For me, it is the perfect blazer for Spring. I put together an outfit that combined three of my favorite trends for spring: pastels, lace, and studs.  I wore a sheer lace top with pale peach cropped pants, and added my mint studded blazer. I continued the studded theme with my Valentino rockstud tote. What do you think?

Blazer: Zara (sold out online, but I got it in the store)/ Lace top: Zara (similar here)/ Pants: Zara/ Shoes: Steve Madden/ Bag: Valentino/ Sunglasses: Karen Walker/ Bracelet: J.Crew

Blue Cure

What do you do when you find out you have cancer? You quit your day job as the head of a successful PR firm, change your lifestyle, and start a non-profit. Ok so maybe that’s not how everyone would handle the situation, but that is exactly what Gabe Canales, the founder of Blue Cure, did when he found out he had prostate cancer at the young  age of 35. He put his PR skills to work, and now two years later, Blue Cure is helping save lives by educating men of all ages of the importance of early screenings, and living a healthy lifestyle. Last night, I was invited to attend their first annual Tweet Up event at the fabulous Hotel Zaza. From the “blue” menu to the blue decor, this was a great event for an even greater cause. Here are some pictures from the night.

I decided to wear a clean and simple look, with black cropped trousers, a black studded tank, and a white linen vest. I am a bit obsessed with this vest; you can wear it in so many different combinations. I will post another look with this vest soon.

Everything on the menu was “blue inspired”. Executive chef Adam West from Hotel Zaza put together a sampling of Blue point oysters with blueberries, blue cheese burgers with blue corn chips, and ceviche with blue prawns. I am a sucker for themed food, and this menu was delish. I even ate the raw oyster!

Outfit Details: White linen vest: Zara (sold out online, find in stores)/ Studded hem trousers: Zara/ Earrings: Alexis Bittar / Sunglasses: Dior

Have a great weekend!

Coral and Mint

A hot summer’s day called for a fun casual look with my denim cut-offs and a bright coral top. One of my favorite colors to pair with coral is mint, so I accessorized with a mint beaded necklace and bracelet. I also wore my Steve Madden wedges, which are so comfortable! They are high, but I can walk in them all day. I also love to wear gold accessories with coral, so I finished off the look with my over-sized gold Michael Kors watch, nude Rebecca Minkoff mini with a gold chain strap, and a gold initial necklace.

Valentino and Animal Print

I was never really an animal print kind of girl, but when I found a structured peplum top in cheetah print, I decided to give it a try. I usually see animal print worn with black or red, but I wanted to soften the look up a bit, so used soft neutrals instead. I never thought to put animal print with pale pink or peach, but I love it! I accessorized with my Valentino Rockstud bag, a gold chunky chain necklace, and semi cat-eye sunglasses for a classic look with an edge.
