Playing with Prints

I love a good print, and when I saw this silk blouse, I immediately thought of at least 5 outfits for it. Since this Spring is all about color, I decided to wear it with my yellow skinny jeans (also seen here) and some mint patent leather sandals. I accessorized with my blue YSL Arty ring and oversized gold Michael Kors watch. What do you think? Would you wear a bold print this season?

Mint and Pleats

As you know, I love to experiment with color and this season there are so many different color palettes to choose from. I may dare say this is one of my favorite fashion seasons in many years. I have been having so much fun with the bold neons, bright corals, and the pastels. One of of my favorite color combinations of the the moment is soft minty green and a neutral like beige. These colors combine so beautifully and have a really feminine and soft look.

I added this jeweled collar because the original collar of the shirt was very simple.

I love the details on the back of this blouse.

The pleats on this maxi skirt are amazing, and the multiple light layers of fabric make it so flowy.

Crave cupcakes. They don’t come any more rich and buttery than these.

Neon and White

I feel like Spring is in the air even though it is still a month away, and the gorgeous weather is a perfect time for me to put together a fun, bright outfit. It is also a good time to bring out my birthday present; my white 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli satchel. I have been longing for this bag for quite some time, and when it came out in white, I was super excited. I hope you like the look!

Red and Yellow Color Block

Today, I decided to have some fun with color again. I paired my red sweater from this post with a citron yellow pencil skirt. For an added layer, I let my chambray shirt peek out a bit. I accessorized with a red YSL Muse bag and red Hermes cuff.

Peek of Polka Dots

Polka dots are definitely a hot trend right now, but while I think this print is fun, I also think it can look too busy. So, I like to use polka dots in moderation; maybe a peek here or a small accent there. I decided to wear this polka dot blouse with a red sweater for a classic red, black, and white color combination. These amazing red and black platform wedges were just the right accessory to bring the whole look together.

How much fun are these retro sunglasses by Elizabeth and James?

Lily, my bichon-poo wanted to say hello.

Chocolate covered strawberries

Happy Valentine’s Day! Today I want to share a quick idea for those of you who haven’t yet finalized your Valentine’s day gifts or plans. I personally love Valentine’s Day, because I love love, but I don’t care for boxes of chocolates and  over-priced dinners. I think it is so much more meaningful and personal to make something yourself. Chocolate-covered strawberries are surprisingly easy to make, and turn out so beautiful and delicious. Here is what you need.

1 box strawberries with stems

1/2 lb chocolate of your choice ( I like bittersweet so I used 58 % cocoa)

Note:  White chocolate is much more technique sensitive, so if this is your first batch, I suggest milk or dark chocolate.

First wash and dry all of the strawberries. It is important to dry them so the chocolate will adhere to them.

Next bring a small pot of water to a simmer and place a glass bowl or heat-safe bowl on top. (If you have a double-boiler you can use that). Place the chocolate chips into the bowl and stir until all of the chocolate is melted.

Dip each strawberry into the chocolate and let the excess chocolate fall back into the bowl. Lay your strawberries on a piece of parchment paper to dry.

Once the chocolate has completely hardened, you can remove the strawberries from the parchment paper and arrange them however you like. You can even put them in a nice box with a bow on it for a lovely gift.

Here’s a little peek of my Valentine’s day outift.

I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day and you enjoy this recipe!

Breakfast at Tiffany’s

One of my favorite colors this season is minty blue/green. It is such a soft, feminine color, and it reminds me of a box from Tiffany’s. You have seen my mint blue skinny jeans before in this post, but I decided to do a completely different look this time with a softer color palette. I kept it very simple with only neutrals and accents of mint.

You may remember this embellished collar from my pastels post. I thought it may clash with the collar of the trench coat, but it actually worked out pretty nicely.

St.Valentine’s Day hints

With Valentine’s day quickly approaching, I thought I would put together a collections of hints that you may want to send to your Valentine (and if you are single, then treat yourself to something nice this V-day!).

I always look for an excuse to get new shoes, and Valentine’s day is no exception. I know that the red-soled Christian Louboutins are still all the rage, but I am growing more and more fond of Brian Atwood’s designs. His Maniac Pumps are super chic, surprisingly comfortable, and come in so many amazing colors. I love the neon pink, since it reminds me of Valentine’s day and is a super hot shade right now. See more colors here.

While it may be cliche to receive perfume on Valentine’s day, I couldn’t help but add this to my list because it smells so darn good! And the bottle is so gorgeous, it looks great just sitting on my vanity.

At first glance, I thought this was a Cartier Love bracelet, but it’s actually Michael Kors, and a lot less expensive I might add. It has the iconic bolts of the Cartier, and a great buckle detail. Find it here.

Where do I begin with this masterpiece of a ring? It may look like a funny growth to some, but I think it is one of YSL’s best creations. If you like really big statement rings, you will love this one. It comes in gold and silver, with many stones to choose from. Coral is a hot color for Spring, and is currently on pre-order here.

I am huge fan of clutches, especially the tiny box variety. It may not hold much, but I like to think of it more as a piece of jewelry that I hold rather than a bag. This DVF clutch is one of my favorites, and comes in so many colors and textures. I love the neon yellow (you may have noticed my obsession with neons), and it will look amazing against some brightly manicured nails. See the other colors here.

Of course, I have to include food since food is the way to my heart. I can’t think of anything that would put a smile on my face more quickly than a box of beautiful French macaroons. Not only are they delicious, but they are so pretty, you almost don’t want to mess up the box by eating one. You will soon get over that once you have one. (Oh, and they are naturally gluten-free!) My favorite spot in Houston is Maison Burdisso. Trust me, forget the chocolates this year, and order a box of these. Thank me later.

And finally, I’m not big on receiving clothing on Valentine’s day, but the one exception to that rule is cashmere. There is something so rich and romantic about cashmere. It’s also great for this time of year because it is light enough to wear in Spring, and warm enough to layer in the winter. I love J.Crew’s collection of Italian cashmere; it comes in many different style (short or long sleeve, button-down, crew-neck, or v-neck) and tons of beautiful colors. My favorite is this bright persimmon V-neck, but see the whole collection here.

Which of these gifts would you love to receive? What would you like that is not on the list?

I hope you all have an amazing Valentine’s day, and you spend it with the people you love. xoxo
